How To Make GameBoy Color Screen More Brighter

Nintendo released the Gameboy color back in 1998 and it came in a wide range of different colors to choose from including bright green, red, blue, orange and yellow. The Gameboy color at its time was the first handheld console by Nintendo that can actually play games on a color screen, this changed portable gaming completely for everybody. Sadly, the Gameboy color was discontinued worldwide in 2003 and was no longer in production at that point, due to a newer version going to be released very soon. But if you can still get your hands on one of these retro consoles, they are still playable today because of its unforgettable games selection that includes endless Pokemon games on cartridges. You might find that although the screen is color, the screen is very dark. This is because when Nintendo manufactured it, they did not include a backlight behind the screen that lights it all up, due to wanting to limit battery life consumption for portability. Although there is not much you can do to make it 100% more brighter, unless you modify it, you can still make a few changes here and there to enhance it slightly.

1) Use AA batteries that are fully charged. Playing your Gameboy color using dead batteries will not provide sufficient voltage to the screen, therefore making it appear dull and dark to you. Using batteries that are fully charged will provide constant voltage to the screen and it wont starve for power, which will result in a sharper and brighter picture to be displayed that has better contrast levels.

2) Play in a well lite room. Since the Gameboy color doesnt have a internal backlight, you cant really see whats on the screen in dark situations. As the screen uses reflective technology, the more brighter the room your playing in is, the better visibility the screen will have. If you want to, you could also consider yourself placing a table lamp or flash torch directly on top of the screen to increase the brightness.
